David and Randy, thanks for your imput. I contacted Sikkens and asked about the Auto Clear. They said that they did not recommend using any of the automotive paints on boats, but they did have a marine division. I also emailed Toquenatch Creek Cedar Kayaks to see what exact product that they used.

Finishing

I am to the point of putting a finish on my RedBird Canoe. I have a frend that has done a lot of body work and will spray the finish on my canoe. He want to use a clear automotive finish with UV inhibitor in it. He said that a Acrylic Enamel or Urathane Enamel would be good to use. He is leaning on ...

Thanks for the imput. I think I will put my seat height at 9", which will make about a 3" spacer to get to that point.

Redbird Seat Height

I am to the point of mounting my seats on my Redbird. I am looking for anyone who can tell me what there experience has been on the position of the seats in relationship to the gunnels. :thinking

I am to the point of doing the decks on my RedBird Canoe. I am thinking of putting the decks on top of my gunwales instead of putting them inset.
