Free Stuff
Hi I am moving into a condo and have material that I can no longer use. I have molds for a RobRoy and a Ranger if anyone can use them. I also have the strongback on which I built them. These are free for the taking. We are moving in early April. Contact Pete pkotowych@gmail.com 705-527-0046 Midland,...

Re: bubble in fibreglass
Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the advice. I appreciate it.
I have to do 'other' stuff, like paint the kitchen, before
I can get at it. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Hi Brian,
Thanks for posting the pics and for your opinion.
I just can't leave that blemish on the canoe.

Re: bubble in fibreglass
Hello,
If a picture is a must, I can send one directly to someone who will give me their
personal e-mail address.
It's the only way I can figure out how to do this.
Mine is pkotowych@gmail.com
Thanks again
Pete

Re: bubble in fibreglass
Hey,
I am signed in to photobucket.
Now it is 'loading my album'. It has been going on forever.
Is it downloading every picture I have in my computer?
It just says "Bulk Upload'.
Any idea what is happening
Thanks again for your assistance.
tks
Pete

Re: bubble in fibreglass
Thanks Brian, I'll try and work on that pic thing. I want to remove the blemish. If I am levelling it off by scraping, there is no reason to fill the void with epoxy first, correct. I'm sure I will go through the cloth, so I will level it off and put a new piece of glass in as you suggested. Thanks ...

Re: bubble in fibreglass
Howdy, I'm sorry, but I can't handle posting a picture of the longish bubble in the fibreglass. I understand your suggestion to drill 2 holes to apply epoxy This would fill the void. That's fine, but what do you do after that. You still have a bulge in the fibreglass Can you sand it down without mak...

Re: One more pre-fiberglass question
The book says to start at one end, say 2ft from the stem. Work toward this stem. Once all your business is done in this stem area, then work the epoxy towards the centre of the canoe. This way you will always have a wet edge and you can keep applying the epoxy towards the other end of the canoe. Thi...

Re: bubble in fibreglass
Hi guys,
Thanks for your help.
I'll try and get a picture of my problem.
I found a worse issue, it is more like a fold in the glass, where
somehow it was not properly flattened to the hull.
Very frustrating
Again, thanks for your assistance.

bubble in fibreglass
Hi,
I fibreglassed the outer hull yesterday and unfortunately I have a slight bubble
in the glass. Is there any way to fix it or is it just to be considered a beauty mark.
It is not huge, but noticable.

Thanks Randy.
As I said I have never tried wrapping it around the stem, so I think I
will follow your advice.
Keep paddling!

fibreglassing around outer stem
Howdy, When I fibreglass the canoe next week, I plan to wrap the glass around the outer stem. I plan on cutting the glass and inch or so above the stem and just wrap it around. I haven't done this method before. I was just wondering if there were any major problems. At a later date I plan to put 3 m...

Re: Installing Outside Stem
Hi, I think I got mixed up with the terminology. The term thickened epoxy I took to mean, epoxy with hardener. That was my mistake. Initially I just applied epoxy by itself. Anyway, I corrected the problem. I sanded the surfaced and re-glued. It is fine now. Thanks for your help. Maybe its because I...

Re: Installing Outside Stem
Sorry, once the exoxy has soaked in I applied the thickend epoxy.
The other thing I was thinking of is that I applied too much pressure and sqeezed out
most of the thickend epoxy.

Initially, I just applied epoxy alone as the book says.
