Hi MoonMan,
Thank you for your response.
Have you ever paddled the MATTAWA solo? I am hoping this boat will be an all around canoe for me. Most of my paddeling will be tandem with some solo from time to time.

Has anyone built or paddled a MATTAWA?

Hi, Has anyone built or paddled a MATTAWA? I have a set of plans for this canoe that I purchased about three years ago. I am thinking of building it but would like some feedback from anyone who has experienced paddling this canoe. I have built two canoes in the past-a 17' MCA GUIDE and a 16' 38 SPEC...

Hello, I found something very difinitive on the US Government Patent Office official website regarding copyrights that explains in detail what Tom has been saying. http://www.uspto.gov/web/offices/pac/doc/general/index.html#patent "What Is a Copyright? Copyright is a form of protection provided...

Hello everyone, Well, it seems as though we have opinions from several different perspectives. Although I don't intend to sell my set of plans or build a second copy of my canoe, it would be nice to actually hear an opinion from a legal expert on this subject, short of having to pay for one. But all...

Hello, I personally agree with what Al has to say on this matter and that is exactly why I edited the station mold line on my original post. I also sell plans of my own creation for a product entirely unrelated to canoe building. I have licensing language right on the bluprint sheets. My intention i...

Hello, I was just thinking about what has been said here about licensing of plans and copyrights. As I recall, the plans that I purchased from Al Gustafson did not have any legal language on them anywhere nor was there any documentation enclosed to that effect. The plans that I purchased for a Matta...

Hi Everyone, I was not thinking about copyrights when I posted my items for sale. I have since edited the station molds line in my previous post. I agree with what HOZ said above. If I was the designer or vendor of this canoe plan I would not want to loose sales because of plan sharing. I am not sur...

Strongback, Forms, Strips, Gunnels, Seat for sale.

I built a 38 Special last year and my brother had intended to build another one so we purchased materials for two canoes. We have since moved on to other things and have changed our plans and have the following items for sale. (1) 16 foot box beam telescoping strongback 8" square and all statio...

Has anyone built the Minnesota Canoe Association "Guide Model" ? How does it compare to the "White Guide" when it comes to performance? Does it paddle as easy? How does it handle a windy lake crossing? Thanks for any input on this as I am also considering these two models for my ...

Minnesota Canoe Association Guide Model

Has anyone out there built a Guide Model canoe from plans supplied by the Minnesota canoe Association? I previouslybuilt one about fifteen years ago, but no longer own it. It was a nice handling canoe and was easy to paddle and control. I was thinking that this design might serve well as a solo cano...

Hi Sedges, Thank you for your input on the Mattawa. This is the kind of information I was looking for in my previous post. I purchased these plans about two years ago but was never quite sure if it was the right plan for me. Based upon what you said, this looks like it will probably work out quite w...

What design to chose for a small tandem canoe?

I am ready to build another canoe and would like to find a design for a small tandem canoe with decent performance characteristics. I have the full size plans for the MATTAWA but the design seems a little full bodied. Has anyone ever paddled one of these? Is there a another design I should be consid...

Hi Erik, I went to the webshots site itself and I was able to see all three previews and I was able to see all three full size pictures. Maybe there is somthing wrong with the way the forum is operating. Another problem I am having is when I try to paste a link to my webshots site I can copy it into...

I just completed this canoe and have not yet had it on the water so I don't know how it performs yet.

Hi Erik, I used basswood for the strips on the 38 SPECIAL with honduras mahogany trim and a lacewood accent strip. Basswood gives a nice warm color to the finished canoe and the price is much less than western red cedar in my area. Thanks for your advice on posting pictures. I will try posting anoth...
