glue injector
:wink Hey Doug, I built my first cedar strip canoe (15' prospector-Bear Mtn design) over last winter and used a "Workshop Glue Injector" that I purchased from Woodcraft and it made the job of laying the glue into the cove of the strip SO EASY. This injector allowed me to control the amount...

When, as your instructions say, go to properties after rt. clicking the photo, Properties will not allow any entry to that window. So, why go there ??? or what am...

Out of the shop and into the water, finaly
:wink :cool My 15 ft Prospector Ranger was completed (well, almost) and hit the water at a nearby lake the 28th of June. I was dumped the first time I tried to enter (from a dock). But, that was good as it did get my attention and thereafter I paid more attention to what I was doing and might as wel...

truck racks and loading
:thinking :confused I am looking for a rack for my truck to carry my 15' Ranger Prospector. At present I am using the two 2 x4s with rain gutter hold downs. I use these to sit the canoe on with adjustable straps to hold the canoe down that are attached to the truck finder wells and hardware that is ...

:wink That site that Glen recommendeds realy good. Much info for new canoists like myself. I just finished my 15' Ranger Prospector and put her in the water this past tuesday and I did the GREAT SPLIT between the canoe and the dock. Went under but had my vest on, so no big deal other than feeling fo...

:shocked Thanks for the info, glen. Do you think that the epoy joining the keel to the hull will be strong enough without using the screws ????? If so I could shave the height of the keel down where it meets the outer stem. That would be great, as I do not want to drill into the hull if I can avoid ...

OR ?????
OR,
Might the best way be to epoxy and varnish the keel prior to
installing on the hull ?????
Could be a lot less mess on the hull to deal with.
The hull is already epoxied and glassed. :big grin

keel time
:confused :rolling eyes Well, the hull on my 15' ranger is done except for sanding and varnish. The keel, that I decided to install half way thru the project is ready also. Bare oak with no finish as yet. I plan to install the keel prior to varnishing the hull and using thickened epoxy. Questions; I...

Rawhide seats-really stiff
:thinking So, one seat is done using 3 / 16' rawhide. Damp when weaving (installing). As it dried out it became very stiff and tight as a banjo string. It will probably be uncomftable to sit on. Has anyone tried boiled linseed oil to take the stiffness out of rawhide ??? Or, what has worked well for...
