Does anyone know what wood Phil Green is using on the Wood Song Canoe displayed on his web site? Is it a Mahogany and does it have a stain?

Design and Stability

In the process of choosing a design I find that I am attracted to the high recurve stem. Also being a beginning builder and an inexperienced paddler I am attracted to stability. The Champlain 16' High ender has a stability factor of 92 The Prospector Ranger 15' has a 104 stability factor. Steve Kill...

Day trip, Two adults, grandchild = 400lbs, lake and quiet stream. I have a plastic canoe for anything above a class II. This canoe would spend more of its time sitting on top of my SUV in front of my office.

Thanks

My interest is in the beautiful wood. I don't know what is under this glass. Seeing the work that you fellows are turning out makes me want to do my own. The set up concerns me as a beginner. (strong back etc.) I am a quiet water paddler with a wife in the front seat. Which design do you suggest for...

Removing Glass?

I am new to the Forum and may be off the forum purpose wth my question. I have located a strip canoe in my area that has glass that has turned very milky. It looks like an older build. I have no experience with building or with glass. It is 16' but I don't know enough to determine style. Owner bough...
