Re: Glen Smith died

Very sad. My condolences to the family.

Glen most certainly was of big help to everyone that came looking for it.

Re: Next Project

Wow! An interesting lay-up. I think it looks fantastic, I really like the deep amber tones the resin has taken. It looks in quite good shape too. An interesting history, for what you know of it.

Re: Help with strips please

When fairing the outside of the hull, you are taking off all the corners of the strips as you make the flat surface a smooth curve, so worrying about just how smooth this surface is really does not matter too much. Having an even thickness would give you a more even starting point though. On my next...

Re: Strip Cutting Friction and Wax

When needed, I clean and wax my table saw top, planer bed, router stand rop and jointer tables. I sometimes do the associated fences as well. It makes a world of difference in performance and ease of use. I use Johnson Paste Wax. Ripping strips, used a 24 tooth Diablo circ saw blade on my cabinet sa...

Re: Thanks Glen

Glen, thanks for all your input, both behind the scenes, and with contributions to the members questions. You are a valuable resource.

And congrats to Randy, not a more deserving member to carry on the reins as the new Chief Admin. Your input too has been very valuable.

Re: Basswood Northwest Passage Solo 15'

That looks great.

I was wondering about the gap in the hull you left at first, and was quite intrigued by the idea of a sabot. I had never heard of them, but makes great sense if you are going to be where you might be bumping into stuff.

I am with you on that, Jim. A great boat to add to the quiver, yet so many good ones to consider.

Oh, how I yearn for retirement, and the time to properly address these projects with. :thinking

Re: a reminder

I guess if the guidelines are set, they leave the final decision up to the boater. I do know most power boats rarely have passengers with PRDs. I wear mine almost all the time now. I used to be less careful when close to shore on a nice day, but as I age I seem to be less willing to take chance. Nev...

Re: a reminder

That is always sad too here, especially when it could have been avoided. From Transport Canada. Pleasure craft must have a Canadian approved device of the appropriate size for each person on board. You can choose between lifejackets and PFDs depending on your boating activity. They do go on to expla...
