Success
The three coats are on and with the exception of a couple sags on the last coat no complaints. I did notice however, that were I had some epoxy on the strips from filling voids, Its seamed to be lighter in colour and did not accept the epxoy as well or to the same extent. Comments? Thanks for all yo...

Glassing Alone
I'm ready to glass my endeavor kayak this weekend, however, I'm having difficulty getting help. Has anyone glassed on their own. Is it possible mixing, wetting out on your own. Or are the risks to high and I should just wait until I can round up a mixer. This will be my second boat, but we had a tea...

How much resin?
I'm just about ready to glass the outside of my endeavour. How much resin is required? Will a West Sytem group B do the whole boat. The book doesn't say.

Jody, I built a 15 Ranger last year and it tracks quite well, I wouldn't worry about installing one, no need. However, if you do I would suggest scarfing it on to the ends of the outer stems before you epoxy the outer stems into their final position. This would allow for a nice transition from the k...

More progress
The stripping of the hull is complete and I have dry fit the outer stems. Time to borrow a space heater. Not that cold but a little chilly for epoxy (8-12C) in the garage. http://ca.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/davidjrollins/my_photos The tanzer should be hitting the water in March. I have to take it down...

Rawhide Seat
Hear is a picture of the completed seats. I like the classic look. Sure beats nylon webbing.

Ahead of Schedule
I believe I'm a little ahead of schedule. I took last week off as my folks were in town so I used them for feed rollers for making the strips. I now have three in place. With a decent base to work from I'm going stapleless and the next strip will be my feature strip. I hope to use the stapleless jig...

Endeavour Stations 0, 1 and 16
When mounting these station on the stem and stern molds do you cut them down the centreline or do you have to take into account the thickness of the stem/stern forms.

Steam
Only done it once so far, but we bend ash for a ranger last year with a real cheap set up. scrap plywood for a box, a $3 kettle from the trift store, 15 min in the box (i think) bend real well. I would think that moist air would have to make the wood more flexible than just plain heat, but I'm not a...

The strongback is built, the forms are all in place, stem time. (Endeavour 17) I have at my disposal some 1by boards 48" long of big leaf maple ( Acer macrophyllum ) and cypress ( chamaecyparis nootkatensis ). I was planning on using the cypress for the insided stems and maple for the outside s...

Re: Lofting help please
I am currently lofting an Endeavour 17 from the table of offsets in KayakCraft 2001 Thier reprint. I have run into what appears to be a discrepency on station 15. On the table of hights the station 15 sheer is given as 0-05-08 which is in effect 0-06-00, or am I reading it wrong. I don't have my bo...

Re: Form Making
Was is just one of those stick on disks that matched the diameter of your blade? If so how did it hold up and what grit did you use 80/100?KenC wrote:[... I used a bandsaw and sanding disk on the table saw....
Was the blade reuseable after the sanding project?
Thanks
