Re: Wee Lassie 2 - not fair?

The Wee Lassie II hull is asymmetrical front to back, so the spacing of forms from the middle station to the bow is 13", while from the middle station to the stern, the station spacing is 12". I think I found my problem. Based on the drawing in Mac's book, I was measuring from the center t...

Re: Wee Lassie 2 - not fair?

It's the centre form that seems off. To attach the strip to the form, I have to pull it in more than 1/4" out of fair.

Wee Lassie 2 - not fair?

Keeping weight down

Anyone have tips on making an ultra lightweight canoe? I am building Mac MacCarthy's Wee Lassie Two. So far, I am using 3/16" thick strips (western red and northern white cedar for bottom) with ash gunnels (scuppered and tapered). Northern white cedar inner stem(laminated), ash for outer stem. ...

Glueing stems

I am working on the stems for my first canoe, a Wee Lassie 2 by Mac McCarthy. I was wondering what would be the best glue for laminating the strips for the inner and outer stems? I am using white cedar and ash. I have read that carpenters glue is fine. Other people say to use expoxy (thickened with ...
