Cracked inwale
Yesterday I was dry fitting the inwales and cracked one in half. It was about a 5 inch diagonal fracture. I fixed it w thickened epoxy and it seems good and barely noticeable. Is it ok to use this if it holds up to my stressing it or should I start over. It is scuppered and tapered.

Sanding inside bow and stern
Any tips on getting/sanding inside of bow and stern smooth? Does the deck hide this area at all?

Re: Beveling scuppered inwales
Thanks. I'd rather not bevel the inwales. Right now I'm still sanding the inside and will hopefully be glassing the inside this weekend. My prospector may not have that much tumblehome anyway, though it does seem to at this point after takimg it off of forms and turning it upright. I guess I need to...

Beveling scuppered inwales
Anyone got any tips on beveling the inwale? If I cut my scuppers on the inwale and then try and bevel it to match the tumblehome, won't some of the scuppers be different sizes if the bevel changes as I get toward the bow and stern. Or is this overthinking?

fiberglassing roundover stems
Getting ready to fiberglass when conditions are right. 1. My stems are rounded over on prospector 16'. was wondering what the procedure is for round-overed fiberglassing. do you pull excess glass beyond stem and trim off when dry and then add bias strips later or not at all? The Gilstrap method look...

last few planks to inner stem
I am getting to point of gluing last several planks to inner stem and wanted to make sure that I am trimming the planks correctly. haven't started, but looks like 3 or 4 more will cover the inner stem. Is there a link already that explains this process clearly. I assume that I continue to trim the p...

inner stem questions
several q's before I clamp on my inner stem. 1. pg 114 (canoecraft) mentions to round off the end of inside stem at keel line where it will be visible inside boat. Does this mean to round over the square end of the inner stem that lays against the mold? 2. The book mentions that the inner stem shoul...

Re: Stem material dimension
Thanks guys. I'll use the 1/2" material. Not sure my last post transmitted, but was wondering about directions for cutting my molds. Book says to rip the plywood in half to 2' . At least 7 of the prospector molds are taller than 2'. See my question?

Stem material dimension
Verifying stem dimensions. Canoe craft book says stem strips should be 7/8 x 1/4 thick x 3 for each stem which would make a 7/8 x 3/4 stem. The plans for my prospector show each stem as 3/4 x 3/4 finished. Just wanting to know what width to cut my strips for the stem laminations. Also I think I'll u...

Re: Station setup-need help
Ok. Just realized the MOLD is centered over the center station line and not the block. That just leaves the question of if I should add 1/2 the thickness of the centermold to first 12" line from the midline on each side so that the molds end up consistent throughout. Make sense? Thanks again.
