Before you get too far along in your project, try and find a source for the kevlar. There's currently a shortage for kevlar & carbon fabrics. The fabric you do find will be going for top dollar.

Unfortunately they don't sell the assembly. The link you provided is only for the outside locking ring which a person could lose and need to replace. The inside collet is bonded to the shaft and isn't for sale.

Kind of off topic, but...Paddle shaft collet/coupling source

Does anyone know a company that makes the paddle shaft collets/couplings for the new style adjustable kayak paddles? I'm not looking for paddle manufacturers because they're all tight lipped about who they get their components from, but I was hoping someone may have run across the plastic (nylon) sh...

With most hand laminating epoxies you should recoat before 24 hours has lapsed in order to guarantee a chemical bond between the coats.

But contact Larry at Raka and he can give you the specs for his system.

A DVD would probably be better received and much easier to publish than a paper bound book. It would probably be more work than a book unless someone was a skilled vidoegrapher.

The kevlar mentioned by Moran is 8.9 oz/sq yd. which is considerably more expensive than standard 5 oz listed by many suppliers. In fact, the only place I've found it is at Raka and it's a +45/-45, 8.9 oz stitched biaxial that runs $30/yd (64" wide) for 5 yards or more. Also the s-glass is laye...

Get an MSDS for the specific epoxies and hardeners and compare the chemical components. Epoxy systems vary on their raw materials. You may be able to identify the chemical(s) that cause your reaction. http://www.westsystem.com/ Navigate to "Safety" and them click on the "Material Safe...
