Adam,
You could try cutting a wood spacer that fits over the bolt head and sticks up just above the surface of the gunnel. Then clamp a length of wood over the top of the spacer so it puts enough downward pressure on the bolt so that it won't turn. Hope this works for you.

Randy, I'm not sure why I missed this thread back when it was fresh, but I think the solution to your problem is to use two molds. A convex mold (the one you used to bend your pieces), and a concave mold (the outside of the bend, taking into account the difference in radius due to the thickness of t...

I'd say that there should be no compatibility issues with system 3 varnish and RAKA epoxy. I don't recall ever seeing anything about it on the forums. HOWEVER, if there is ANY doubt about ANY part of ANY process, the best thing to do is test it first so you don't end up having to do it over.

Watch out Steve Killing. Glen's after your job :laughing

Looks like a nice design, Glen. This could be a good candidate for a sailing rig....

When buying wood, the term "natural" refers to darker wood tone, or darker streaks in the coloring. The best thing you could do is to go look at it and see if it is a color you like.

Hey Pete, Check around your area for cabinet shops and lumber mills that would have a moisture meter. They would probably be happy to check the content for you. That, at least, would give you a starting point. Good luck

Artic, making a kerf to help the bend should work very well. I wouldn't suggest using the tablesaw to make the cut, however, because of the blade thickness. I'd suggest using either a bandsaw or handsaw to make the cut. Same result, but less gap to fill where the cut ends. Let us know how it turns o...

There is nothing I know of short of a coat of finish that will permanently bring the color out after sanding. My suggeston would be to dampen a portion of it while they watch, so that the color "pops" before their eyes. Very impressive. They will probably be more interested in the design a...

Curious? Why would it work for some and not others? Even if you google; "Alistego" and / or "Eun Mara" Doug . Maybe it's the web browser. I use Firefox, and it comes up every time I've tried it. What are you using Doug? Anybody else using Firefox that CAN'T get it to come up? I ...

Hey Mike,

If you are using inner stems, it's probably going to be OK. Just be careful about letting glue squeeze out onto the mold from the inner stem. If you're building stemless, you've got a problem...
