How about this..just building a 16 or 17 foot stripper and using gil's side motor mount bracket? Has anyone used it? Would probably be better then what I was wanting to pull off with the freighter. Honestly I dont know how bad I really need a freighter as much as I want a power boat on some occasion...

I'd be mainly using it on LARGE rivers, like the Yukon, to motor up and fish for pike and shee fish... I do however plan on putting a lift on with a short shaft m...

On the wet out it worked very well and also on the fill coats. I did run a white roller a couple of time...

might add for clarity the canoe rolled as it fell off the support thankfully hitting the bottom where the stem turns up to the decks. And the question I had with the preval spray is it is saying thin 4 oz of varnish with .4 oz thinner. Isnt the system 3 varnish thin enough? I havent given it a go ye...

this canoe is cursed
Boy I'm so close to being done. Final sand of the 3rd coat of varnish and spray and she's done. That is till I showed my mother in law tonight the boat. One end promptly fell off the support I had for having it upside down when varnishing. Hit the stem enough to show white glass marks, ugg. It'll ha...

Thanks again! Yup read the can, was going to call them tomorrow (my saturday), and talk to them more about it. I was thinking of getting a boiling tea kettle going as I dont really have anything portable that will boil more then that. Let it run for a few hours and try things out. I figured maybe by...

Glenn, Thanks! I was talking to my dad tonight and ran the SE by h im, he also mentioned to ground it. Helluva idea. Never would have thought a wood boat would conduct electricity.....but it sure as heck did!!! I do have some questions then about humidity. You see today it was -48F (high only hit -3...

Well, ya'll sright. I just did it and so far things are looking pretty nice. Another mistake. Tapered plugs dont seat all the way so if you're going to get into them, dont apply them first LOL! Have a few fillers I had to take care of tonight before I was done. Another overlooked deal, I wish I woul...

Here is the end I had to build up as I couldnt quite keep the ends up level with the decks. Something I'll need to still do on the 2nd picture, you can see the one end is a little low. Bending and adding another screw didnt help (there is one screw hole I still need to plug there, debating wood or f...
