If you want something cheaper, try Aquaset - I am using it, and it seems to work well.

Square Stern Canoe
I have a 17' 6 Square Stern I built, using a 'Modified Prospector" design. I took the basic prospector offsets from Canoe Craft, scaled them up 7% to give me the width I wanted. I then placed the stations from midship forward at 13" instead of 12, and midship aft at 14". The hull fini...

What about using 'Unbleached Flour' ? I know Plywood plants use a wheat flour to thicken the glue for laminating the veneers.

Bending Stems
I have tried steam bending stems and beck beams for kayaks with mixed sucess. When it works, it is great, but when it doesn't - ARHHHHHHHH! If you are going to steam bend, make sure your wood is NOT kiln dried. Air dried or green is best. I have also tried Johns method with the heat gun, and that wo...

Kayak/Canoe building images
I am putting together an 'adhoc' kayak building course, for a few associates. I am looking for some humorous images I can disply. I remember seeing a cartoon of a canoe built, bow pointing up, stern pointing down, builder in dismay.

Kayaks you can Build
Santa brought me a copy of this for Christmas, and it is a beatiful book. Ted Moores and Greg Rossel have done a wonderful job. I have built both strip and S&G boats, is nice to see a 'Hybrid' design.

Bill Cosbys sketch where he is Noah, and called upon to build an Ark. I am looking for ideas/plans for a VERY SIMPLE, small Ark. This would be part of an interactive Sunday School project for kids. The concept would be they would work in small groups on parts - some would cut out animal shapes, some...

Clamps - Sticker Shock
You can never have too many clamps. For clamping a cockpit combing I built 3 dozen, from some 4" heavy channel (MC4 x 13.8). They took as much time to build, as half of the boat, but I saved money!! Check out Canadian TIre, or your local equivilant. They will have a box or bag of 'Cheap' calmps...

Bullit Proof Strongback
I have a bullit proof stongback. It is a trussed frame made from angle iron and channel, on casters, with leveling feet. The height is adjustable, and the whole thing weighs about 250 lb. The top is made from 2 8' pieces of 10 " wide MDF Shelving. The whole thing is flat within 1 mm. Obviously ...
