Thanks Jim. Means a lot coming from someone with your experience. Clay, Yes, that is a graphite bottom. The recipe is straight from CanoeCraft. It was very easy to do. I taped following the strips instead of marking the 4" waterline. We have shallow gravelly bottoms where I plan to use this boa...

An Alaskan Prospector

Hi All, Just wanted to thank everyone here for all the helpful information contained in this site. I have learned a lot in the past 18 months building this Prospector Canoe. In the book it assumes you are using a stem band. If you are not, a strip of bias cut fibreglass should be used on the stems. I used two layers of fibreglass on mine.

Here is another photo showing the side a bit better. The canoe is actually a bit further along than this, but I have not taken photos lately. I guess this will be motivation to take more photos.

I have been planning and scheming to build this boat for a couple years now, and I am finally doing it. I'll try to remember to post photos and other updates as I go.
