Re: Redbird strongback and forms

Jim: Exactly!

If I build another boat, it will be a kayak. Any suggestions on a model?

Again, thanks to all on the BMB Forum for your assistance!

Redbird strongback and forms

I have finished my Redbird and if I build another cedar strip boat, it will be a kayak. So, I wish to sell the strongback and forms. The stem forms are damaged from removing them. They could be used to trace a pattern for new ones. Does anyone have experience on what a used strongback and the forms ...

Re: Hull Repair

I have completed the repair and applied the final coat of varnish. The repair is invisible from a surface view- it's perfectly blended into the surrounding hull. The only evidence of the repair is the ability to see the repair piece. On the inside, because I did not break the fiberglass cloth and re...

Re: Hull Repair

Randy and Brian: Thank you very much for your help and patience. You have answered my question regarding the patch- I need some overlap. I was about to epoxy the patch on and it struck me that I would not have a continuous layer of fiberglass with my smaller patch. This didn't make sense unless I ap...

Re: Hull Repair

I decided to try and replace the damaged wood from the outside without disturbing the inside. I figured if I failed, then I would simply continue preping for the repair on the inside as I did on the outside. I continued to sand down to the wood and removed the damaged wood. Re: Hull Repair

I have sanded my damaged area down to the fiberglass cloth. The damage doesn't look as bad as I thought. It is not through the hull, although I believe the fiberglas either stretched of became separated from the cedar on the inside. Alsok, there is a slight soft spot on the inside that requres a har...
