Re: Replace damaged strips, centerline cut

I used a utility knife to cut across the strip, and just inside the glued joints. Then I used a chisel to remove the damaged wood. Some parts of the wood strips where splintered and separated from the inside fiberglass sheet. Most of the wood was removed was by using a chisel. I then used the utilit...

Re: Replace damaged strips, centerline cut

Thank you both,
I will be cutting to fit all the pieces. I have not given S-glass much thought, but your probably correct. I think I will try that. I had always planned on removing/replacing the fiberglass on the inside after I got the outside done.
I appreciate your help.

Replace damaged strips, centerline cut

I am replacing some damaged strips on the stern of my 15 ft Ranger. About six on both side leading up to the stem. Fiberglass and wood damaged due to boating in low water and rolling over rocks all afternoon. I removed the fiberglass and have cut out the damaged strips. I have replacement strips rou...

Your Teardrop is fantastic! I have been been thinking of making some sort of box to put on top of our pop up to carry fishing and boating gear. Probably canoe shaped with a hinged side for access.

Nice job on the camper.

Farmpunk, I finished my ranger September 05. I Worked from Bear Mountain plans and got the wood from Great Northern Craft. This was my first build. Everything seemed to go together very well. The most challenging part was after I came around the bilge. My clamps and scrap wood couldn't hold the ends...

I have not been able to find a place that sells brass stem bands. I am building a 15 ft ranger.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Thanks, Tim

Build in progress

Thanks for the welcome joatmon. I finished my forms, built the strong back and stripped up both sides and to the middle on one side. It all seems to be coming together well. I put a picture of it as my avatar. I am very happy with the results so far. Last September my dad and I spent a week in Maine...

Sheer lines on forms

Hi, My name is Tim O'Donnell, this is my first post and first solo canoe build. My question is regarding the sheer lines on the mold stations. On the plans these are marked on stations 6, 5, & 4, but not marked on stations 3, 2, 1, & 0. Or are the horizontal lines on the mold station drawing...
