I use to think painting (the exterior hull) was blasphemy.
But after several years of use, it might be a way to hide the never ending and dreadfull scratch situation.

To be bold I went into a few shops with a tape measure.
If you like a particular (manufactures) model, their web site usually has the measurements on them.

Why not use a final semi-gloss over top of the gloss?
My boats all have high gloss varnish.
Over the years you will develop a semi gloss finish with use.

I have always thought it unnecessary for wet sanding with a ROS.
(water & eletricity is wrong)
I will wet the wood down, to pull out the grain, and then hand sand.
Wetting the wood down is a great way to see what the end product looks like.

With the ever increasing price of WRC, I think cedar deck boards are in my future.

Scarf joints will need to be used;

Wow, again another piece of art posted here.
I like your celtic knot on the deck, how did you manage that?

(My next kayak is going to be a "one ocean design or Guillemot")

Hi Michel, I remember seeing a few years ago, a knotched seat system, you could move / slide the seat in one inch increments.
-I could not find the web site
