1961 26ft Voyager Cedar Canvas

Resently have been working with a referbished ??? 1961 26ft Voyager cedar canvas canoe built by the Chestnut Canoe Company . It has just been recanvased . After two weeks of use the seat support bar has started to separate from the hull . It seems that the screws have been pulling out . So my questi...

My two cents is . Was to use something that is easily available since over the next few years you will probably want to build up the number of coats . ( to protect the glass and make those inevitable scrathes go away ) So I went with Behr Super Spar Clear Gloss from Home Hardware . It has a UV of 45...

I'm one of the one's that shorted my Redbird to 16 1/2 Ft . and because of the long nose any shorter would be questionable . As for the Prospector can they not be made with the high stems like the Redbird and Hiawatha ?

Truck Topper

Has anyone tried making a truck topper using the stripper method . It would have to be reinforced alright . But I was wondering how the glass would holdup to the constant sunlight .

Dave ; Nice paddles . The tear drop inlay is that a part of the shaff ? Is the shaff laminated in three strips and the blade inserted ? Is the tear drop shaped before being attached ? Do you have to have the blade a perfect thickness and how ? Please tell me more . Thanks Paul

First time boat builder

For those first time builders that are trying to decide on 3 coats or 4 coats of epoxy on the out side hull . I personaly wish I had done 4 coats just for that little extra depth .

Show us your paddles

I have just finished another set of paddles out of Hemlock Fir and Cherry . I prefer to pump a block plane in stead of weights . So what I am interested in is ideas for my next set . You know what they say " Plaguerism is the highest form of flattery " . Please include the woods used .I'll...

Redbird extra planks

There was a lot of talk earlier about adding an extra plank or two to increase the depth of a Redbird . I was wondering how it turned out . Did most of you also increase the length of the stem by the same amount . Also with the tumblehome design of this craft how did the gunnels lineup and look. Tha...

Health Cookies

This is my answer to those meal replacement bars or health bars that in my mind are mostly junk. The nice thing about these is that you can adjust them to make them your own and also leave them out for the kids to go wild. In brackets are some alternative suggestions on ingredients . With a mixer bl...
