It dosn't matter that you wear gloves you ALWAYS seem to touch something after you have finished....I've found that you can remove the offending stickyness by using masking tape to stick sticky to sticky...works every time ! how do I know? TC :laughing

To keel or not to keel

As previosly stated my canoe is not a Bear Mountain canoe , however to the input it may as well be...the only plans I had to start with were some 'blueprint' half drawings that were labelled "laker" .....so after mulling over this site for a few (3) weeks I bit the bullet and went for it.....

Just my 2c's worth.....I would not have built a wood strip canoe without this forum...I've had the canoe in the water 3 times...still doing "trials"....and every time had people ask me if I built it, where did I get the plans etc. ....the first thing I say to them is the 'internet' and tel...

Identification of Indian Chief

Well.... :thinking ......my plan was to put it on the bow/stern of my canoe.....it purposely was built to look like an "Indian canoe".....opposed to a Canadian canoe....???? :big grin....being the Vietnam vet. that I am :crying .....I've had enough confrontation to last me a lifetime.....I...

Canoecraft also mentions a 4" grinder with a sanding disc kit on it....it also says "BE VERY CAREFUL" with its use....it is a powerful tool and very effective , also be very wary of grit paper being used. TC

Identification of Indian Chief

Does anyone know who this Indian Chief is ? I have already 'lifted' him and enlarged it to a suitable size for leading the canoe...I'd just like to know his name...I know I'm going to be asked....so I will need to identify him. Thanks TC

Is'nt the coin supposed to be in the keel in a location that is secret to the owner ? A bit hard for owner/builders to do though. Tony

Hi MTP, What about cutting down the stations below the gunwales line, so you can work and put 2 stations back in either side of O with a brace between ? If you don't want to cut 'em make some 'new' ones....if you screw the brace in it shouldn't be too big a pain to work around....TC

Kent, I really feel for you...betrayal of trust is hard to bare....in a past life I used to install fibreglass swimming pools....in the early days they were delivered on a semi trailer and needed a Police escort because of thier width....then someone built a tilt trailer...the pool stood-up at 25-30...
