Seat bolts
As my gunwales slope inwards and I have drilled holes in the inwales at 90 degrees to the seat, I get a gap under the inboard edge of the bolt head (see picture). I have experimented with an offcut and managed to chisel a rebate on the outboard side which doesn't look too bad. I'm a little concerned...

Steaming gunwales
I'm about to install the inwales on my Ranger 15 and I'm planning on steaming the ends to avoid the possibility of snapping them during bending into position. I'm thinking of clamping the inwales directly onto the hull after steaming rather than creating a form. This means that the bend will be in t...

Re: Varnishing after sanding fiberglass
Thanks Brian,
That's very helpful. I left the epoxy for two weeks before sanding. I didn't wash the hull though, didn't know about that. Glad to hear that all will be fine when I varnish.
Pete.

As the book says, the glass has lost its shine and is now cloudy. Will this clear when I apply the varnish or should I do something else before varnish...

Re: Sheer line on mold stations
Hi Brian, thanks a lot for your reply. That’s pretty much what I thought but it’s great to get another view. Pete.

Sheer line on mold stations
Hi, I am building a Ranger 15 and I am about to start planking. I am not 100% sure where the first strip should go relative to the station molds. Should it be flush with the bottom of the mold or is the sheer line somewhere above this? I can't see a sheer line marked on the plans and, when I look at...
