Thanks Glen, I will send him an email.
I see by your website your still building some very nice boats. I hope all is well with you. I have been going through some old posts of mine and I might be getting the boat building itch again, it never goes away :tu

Boat Appraisals

Hey fellow boat builders, it's been quite some time since I have been on the forum. For those who don't remember me I have built 3 strip boats, 2 18' kayaks and 1 18' canoe. My wife and I have really enjoyed paddling them on local waters. Anyway I was at the insurance office today and we discussed i...

Hey Glen, good to hear from you again. Yes I have some pics Posted below. I bought it off of Ebay I tought it was going to be a parts truck because it had a bad tranny leak and I did not want to spend $400 for a rebuilt. Raka is a brand name. That's all I have used on my 3 boats all of which I epoxied by my self, reasonably price to.

I feel your pain Dan, it happens to alot of us. I remember rigging a pulley system to store my wife's just finished kayak and I dropped a 1/2"x4" eye bolt right on the deck!! Can't blame anyone but myself. Best thing is it still FLOATS!!

It's just that the warmer the epoxy the easier it will soak the fiberglass. I have put epoxy in a bucket of warm water for a while to raisethe temp.
Good Luck

IMHO I vote for #3 I have but 2 layers on the bottom of all my boats and the only problem I had was I had to be more patient with the wetout. It takes a little longer for the epoxy to soak in. Also make sure your epoxy is warm 70F to 80F

Hi cg; I did just what you are planning with my deck. I have had no problems what so ever. You can re-enforce the deck with some fiberglass strips on the inside in a few places especially if some one might sit on it (behind the seat). One thing about the center line strip it is easy to mate your str...
