If you look under photo gallery,c1 marathon racing canoe. I have several pictures of the way I mounted my solo seat to bottom of canoe. It's the pictures under (Jim). I made them all out of carbon fiber,seat,rails,etc. Only weighed in at 11 oz. when they were all done.

I've applied epoxy over a varnished C-2 racing canoe,and there were several spots,
that actually bubbled up and never stuck on.I would never suggest this method to anyone,only lots of headache. Sand varnish,take's some time,but in long run,will WORTH the effort.

Great canoe,JOB WELL DONE. Your son's Carbon Fiber seat is in the process of curing as we speak. Resupply of epoxy took longer to get then expected.
