Bill - my reply isn't going to help you much. It is in response to Tom in MN's post. When I was routing a round-over on the inwales, I fell asleep (or had a few moments of absolute stupidity) and I rounded over the entire length of the inwale, forgetting that I did not want the round-over where I wa...

I concur with Rick, I have found the site to be quite slow as well. I won't give up, but as Rick said it might discourage new traffic. I too am on dial-up, but it wasn't this slow before.

Further to Peter's reply, Wooden Boat magazine will sell you a copy of most of their old issues for $6 (USD) or a photocopy of those that are out of print, for $11. In the Wooden Boat Store catalogue, it shows issues #110 and #111 as available but on-line it says you can only purchase #110 as a phot...

:thinking Patrick, I'm not sure if your original post was for real. Did you "really" spray Epifanes on your instrument? If so, did your friend have any trouble thinning it so it would spray properly? The Epifanes I received when I mail ordered it, was like jello. Altho I was able to thin i...

How about making a dam on the bottom with tape, then filling all the holes and let it soak in for a while, then remove the tape and let the remaining varnish drip out. Clean off any tape residue before varnishing the remainder of the frame. I have not done this, it just seems like it might work.

I clicked the link again on Doug's first post and this time "voila". First time, I got nothing.

It sure loads slowly on my dial up though.

Rod Where do you buy your rollers and do they claim to be high volume, low density right on the packaging? I used 4" rollers (white foam with the outboard end being a round shape. I did get foaming but the worst thing was when the rounded end got chewed up against something like the outwales an...

Mark I was not prepared to go it alone so I enlisted my wife as a mixer and I still found it took a long time to do the wetout coat and I was rushing the whole time. I had never fiberglassed anything before. I found a second set of hands helpful to get a wrinkle or two out of the cloth during the we...

Keith At first I thought they had placed their holes that way for strength, so that the wood left between holes was not too thin. After another look it actually looks like there is a larger distance between the first set of three holes and the next three holes and so on. I think you could use your o...

Geordie As others have mentioned there is no shortage of commercial tables or home made designs. Altho I have a fairly roomy shop, I opted to use the right hand wooden extension of my table saw to eliminate one more table taking up space on the floor. I bought and installed Lee Valley's 9" base...

Keith Having read the replies from Scot & Hoz, I wondered if you were caning or rawhiding or some other material. I am at my final step to completion, the seat frames are made but not drilled and I am still not sure what I am going to do. I practiced the snowshoe pattern that Hoz referred to (us...

Jim I have pumice and rottenstone and some w.p. sandpaper in my shop, but like Glen and Dave and Greg, I think if you use your canoe it will quickly negate all your hard work and leave you crying. If however, you plan to use it sparingly or enter it into woodworking shows, then go for it. I read som...
