Re: Epoxy issue
Great news that you were able to get the cloth off so easily. You are definitely back in business without it turning into a major pain. Jim’s point about scraping the remaining sticky epoxy as much as possible followed by acetone sounds like solid advice (don’t use a petroleum product like paint thi...

Re: Epoxy issue
Riverjohn, just a shot in the dark, but was the temperature maintained at 74 degrees or so for at least a day or two after you applied the interior epoxy? If not, then before stripping the inside stuff off it might be worthwhile to apply a good long period of elevated warmth, if you haven’t done thi...

Re: discoloring of wood after fiberglassing
Clear cedar inside and out is good, but a painted hull with clear inside ain’t so bad

Re: 17' 9" Freedom
And this one is done, after much delay. Didn’t take many photos along the way, as opportunities to work on it were always unpredictable so I just put my head down and pushed forward as fast as possible on each step before having to take a break for other things. Used s-glass all the way, with 1/4 in...

Re: 16" Prospector Station 7 & Stem Issue
Hmmm - as I read the first parts of this post I think I have a different station numbering system in mind. My station 7 is the mid station for the whole canoe but your station 7 seems to be the stem side pieces? If so, then ignore my post above as I am working from a different set of plans than thos...

Re: 16" Prospector Station 7 & Stem Issue
From your description it sounds like station 5 is wider than 6, which should not be the case given that I believe 7 is the middle and widest station. Are you sure the numbering didn’t get reversed somehow in the setup, such that what you have assumed is station 6 is in fact station 5 (and vice versa...

Re: 17' 9" Freedom
Thanks for the photo link Randy. I read your build thread here but could not get any of the photos to display, which was frustrating. Your work looks great - I especially like the seats, but the canoe overall is pretty impressive. I will probably have a few questions for you as I get into this. Than...

Re: 17' 9" Freedom
Not going to be a proper build thread, but since I have taken my efforts at a tandem tripper pretty well as far as my unheated garage will let me, I thought I would share a few things about it. The canoe is a Freedom 17’9” from Bear Mountain, shortened to about 17’4” to give me a little more maneuv...

Adding photos?
How do you add photos to your posts? Tried to figure it out but keep getting “file is too big” message, and there are no options given to reduce file size. Thanks

Re: B & C on 3/16 in strips
That’s just the way I did It Jim. I read your posts on this elsewhere, and I like it as a great way to ensure your final strips are consistently the same height (especially important for me given that I have used a dogs breakfast of boards to get my strips, including ripping a beautifully clear 12 f...

Re: B & C on 3/16 in strips
Might be a bit late on this, but just finished b&c on 3/16 strips for my current build. The bead bit I got from Lee Valley Tools - it is part number 16J4803, 3/16" x 1/2" x 1/4" External Bull-Nose Bit – Full Radius. The cove bit is a triple flute bit from Magnate Tools that I got ...
