Re: Free: set of forms to build Cottage Cruiser
Definitely! My goal is only to not waste resources (the forms). I will insist the recipient pay royalty to BMB, or I'll pay it myself. Thank you for the reminder.

Free: set of forms to build Cottage Cruiser
Hello, I have a set of forms used to build the BMB Cottage Cruiser. They are made of 1/2" birch plywood, carefully cut, numbered. Includes bow and stern stem forms. Missing one of the two required forms for station #6, but this is a small one and easily constructed. I hate the thought of cuttin...

Giving away Cottage Cruiser forms - VT
Hello, I built the Cottage Cruiser, and would be glad to give my plywood forms to anyone who wants them. They are made of 1/2" birch ply, in excellent condition, laid out and numbered exactly as Ted Moores instructs. Probably not worth the cost of shipping, so you'd need to pick them up here in...

Completed Cottage Cruiser
Hello. I built the Cottage Cruiser a few years ago. It was fun and a great project. I think the boat came out looking nice. I have used it very little, and in fact, I hope to sell it, because my preferred water vehicle is a kayak. I have built two kayaks over the years, so I think I can let the cano...

Cottage Cruiser Forms available
I built this Bear Mountain canoe a few years ago. I would be glad for the forms to be used again by another builder. Carefully cut from 1/2" birch plywood. If anyone is interested in the forms, they may be picked up at my home in Burlington, VT.

Canoe feels tippy to novice
(I posted this in the "Choosing a Design" section also - I hope that's okay) I am a sea kayaker, with only basic canoeing experience. I have built and primarily paddle an 18' woodstrip kayak and a 16' S&G kayak. The Cottage Cruiser was my first stripper and only canoe so far. Compared ...

Canoe feels tippy to novice
Hello All, I am a sea kayaker, with only basic canoeing experience. I have built and primarily paddle an 18' woodstrip kayak and a 16' S&G kayak. The Cottage Cruiser was my first stripper and only canoe so far. Compared to other typical recreational canoes I've paddled, the CC feels tippy. When ...

Cottage Cruiser - non-slip, stability, buyer (2)
As Pete said, attempt to sell it as-is. Otherwise, you could increase the initial stability by lowering the seats about 1" if possible. to make the inner hull non-slip you could just apply a coat of varnish with some sand in it. This sand is normally sold in paint stores in a little shaker con...

Cottage Cruiser - non-slip, stability, buyer
Hello everyone, I built a Cottage Cruiser last year. Had previously built a CLC 16LT s&g kayak. Have subsequently built an Outer Island strip kayak. The CC was my introduction to stripbuilt. I'd say it came out nicely, and is a solid, decent-looking canoe. It feels a lot less stable (i.e. more &...

Matching strip colors
Hello, I'm approx. 2/3 of the way through stripping a Cottage Cruiser. Its going well, bead and cove. I've been very careful to try to keep consistent color of the strips, other than on a deliberate accent stripe, but now its getting hard to maintain. I'm wondering to what degree, if any, color diff...

mix softwood and hardwood strips?
I have just begun stripping a Cottage Cruiser. It's my first, and I'm keeping it pretty simple, but I'd like to add a dark or light accent strip a few inches down from the gunwales. However, it turns out that all my cedar, even some of the "white" cedar, is a similar, light western red col...

Roof rack spread
I'm building a 15'6" Cottage Cruiser this winter, and wonder if it will be workable to carry it on a Honda CR-V, which only offers a 33" distance from the front crosspiece of the roof rack to the rear crosspiece. Yakima says their minimum recommended spread for boats is 32", so theore...

SB length
Now Ithis first-timer is confused. I'd like the SB to serve for more boats in future. To work on the stems, I assume I want the SB shorter than the canoe, OR I'll need to extend the risers on the molds by a few inches. Should I build the standard 16' SB and raise the molds for the first boat (which ...
