Nice! But those baby's aren't cheap are they? I'm guessing you must do some professional woodworking?

Stapleless consruction
When I stripped my English 20, I started out stapling short pieces (2"-4") of cutoff strips to hold each strip down (with 5/8" brads for the stapler) and duct tape. I had them bead up, so pressed the short piece cove down tightly against the new strip and used duct taped in between st...

Dynel
Dynel is very abrasion resistant. Most who use it vacuum bag it in some form or fashion. It really swells much more than most other cloths and is a trnslucent milky color usually.
But the way you applied it is a good way to do it yourself. Should work out well.

For the width of the strips, just slightly wider...less than 1/32 or so and for the thickness of strips, I just put a thin piece of paper on top of the 1/4" plywood...so not much. Only a very few strips gave me trouble...set them aside until end and just knock down problem areas with hand plane...

kevlar boats
Tim, It was the layup in the particular boat you had. Really lightweight versions can feel flexy for sure, but heavier layups are typically very stiff. I'm mostly a river rat, but I love composite boats as they typically have quicker acceleration and better glide which makes them easier to paddle at...

You are correct that it doesn't...but there is a hole on the other side of the jig offset on the otherside of the strip slot for a second router (so a router on top and one on the bottom. I originally used a friends Frued Router like mine and did both sides at once. But there is noway chips would go...

Sorry, was away camping last weekend :smile here's a link to some shots...sorry they aren't the best to see maybe, but good enough to give you the idea. Just 3/4"plywood with 1/4" plywood and some paper in this case. The hole for the strips was very slightly larger than my strips. I've don...

Alan,
Were you referring to the rope cleat and compass added on in the photo from the GreenValley site? Those wouldn't be on for most folks

Tim, I'll try and get some photos for you this weekend. Snowman, yeah, I could see where thickness of strips could pose a problem, but it really wasn't any big deal with any of the strips I've done, and I don't bother to plane them after ripping them on the table saw. Kickback...huh, you are taking ...
