Re: Who can give me a good advice....?

The Bob's special would be a great choice as well.

Little River Stripper done

Well, I finally got it finished. It's lively, but not at all bad. Can't wait to get it on some bigger water :twisted evil

test drive

Well, probably the first run will be at the East Race WW course. Hopefully out to PA later this summer. It weighed in at 30 lbs glassed. By the time I get the gunnels, bulkhead, sidewall foamed out, it's going to weigh a bit I think :frightened I pretty much got the gunnels on tonight...finish them ...

I've often seen it referred to as multichined hulls where they have the distinct break in planes higher and lower. I think it is correct that shouldered tumblehome would be an example of a chine, and I know kayaks use the multichine terminology more frequently, but in regards to canoes for most folk...

Chines

On Whitewater boats the chines are where the bottom curve meets the side curves as you thought. On flatwater canoes this is also true. A more rounded bilge is soft chined and a more 90 degree bend would be an example of hard chines. The higher up bend should be tumblehome , shouldered tumblehome, et...

Frankie was the man!

I am firmly in your camp that Frankie designed the best WW boats! How cool to have paddled with such a great paddler/designer! Yes, I currently paddle a Taureau, which I have grown to like, but it does have shortcomings :smile I looked for a used SpanishFly for a couple of years (can't afford a new ...

WW boat attempt

Yeah, I know a carved foam plug would've probably been easier and faster, but what can I say, I like working with wood :smile It's roughly 8'-6", 29" wide, and with slightly more rocker in the bow (I think I'll try it both ways to see which I prefer before permanently attaching saddle) as ...

Humidity

I recently experienced the same problem on a little WW boat I'm building. I pulled all the staples and it was sitting under my carport for a week or so when the temps changed and it got more humid. It made the strips swell and raised up 1/2" or so. Pulling it back down somehow from the inside s...

more rocker

personally, I'd go with just giving a bit more rocker just at the ends...last 2' or so. That would give much better results than a slight curve from all the way. It'd be kind of the way the Mad River Guide is...you can flat turn that hull. It'd result in a bit slower boat, but not appreciably and th...
