Looks great Tim! Are you going to build one for yourself now?

Yeah, going around the bilge definitely slowed me down. I was gluing down only 1 or 2 strips at a time in that area. The Fiberglassing went ok. I'll post a picture when I download my camera. First time for me. My father in law (who had built a sailboat a while back) bailed out at the last minute. I ...

Terry, I'm building a Prospector just up the road from you in Rockford - right now I'm sanding the outer hull and hoping to glass this weekend. I definitely would like to see your boat sometime - I've only actually ever seen one other strip canoe. In a (late) response to your post: I used the Ted Mo...

Meet at the Beach
I tried googling it, but wasn't able to find anything about a meet at the beach for 2007 in Holland.
If it's in June like the earlier ones, that would be perfect for finishing my Prospector.

Nikumi
Brian, Love the pictures - somehow the clear skin looks better in the water than I expected. It must be cool to see what's under you. I've been thinking about building some SOF's for members of my family - Is the Nikumi style of build easier/cheaper than a ribbed design. I want to have my kids help ...

Thanks for the ideas. Humidity in the winter here is no problem. Quite dry. I'm going to go for it and hope for the best. I'm confident enough that I'll be able to close in the hull - then maybe if I run out of the good weather, I can look into borrowing a heater for glassing. It sounds like it isn'...

Should I start now?
I'm all set to lay the first strip on my Prospector, but the calendar makes me nervous. Knowing that I'll have a busy fall with kid's in soccer and such, I'm worried about how much progress I can make before it gets too cold in my unheated garage - is it okay to let the unfinished hull sit in the ga...

I got my replacement bit over the weekend and did some careful testing. Turns out my cheap router is probably to blame. The collet in my Craftman is shallow and leaves a lot of shank showing (this bit does seem to have an unusually long shank). If I looked dead on from the top, I could see the bit w...

Route Problem / Bead and Cove
I sent the following email to MLCS. I was wondering if anyone here might be able to shine some light on the issue - although they were happy to send a new bit, MLCS didn't suggest much to ensure this doesn't happen again. I'm at a roadblock now until I have the new bit, and I'd hate for this to happ...

Canoecraft and Lofting the Prospector
Ed, I drew my Prospector Moulds up in Autocad and I did make some adjustments to station 4. I don't have Canoecraft here at work, but looking at my drawing I ignorred the dimension for the 2" butt and have about 24 1/32" at the 2" mark for the 10" waterline I used 11 13/16" ...
