Finish the workshop

I am in total agreeance with Scot T. on finishing the shop before moving in.(pay attention to the old guys) I have been in my 24'x38' shop now for 5 1/2 years. I live in NE BC Canada and we have wild swings in temps during the winter. -40 to +10 when the chinook winds are blowing. VARNISH

I am nearing completion on a freighter canoe.What is the recommended practice for the gunnels. Do I coat them with epoxy before varnishing or do I just varnish. Any other tips on this stage of construction greatly appreciated. :thinking
