To add a pertinent question to this thread, for myself and others

How much would 50 hours after application be for pushing the threshold of a clean removal?

Very quick reponse.

Some facts:
The cloth was applied 28 hours ago at the time i write this.

Some questions:
What are the implications for the surface below the cloth?

How much time do you guess this will take?

Will the cloth come off as a mono sheet?

Inside Fiberglass Problem- Bubbling+wrinkles

As the title suggests, my am the unfortunate recipient of bubbles and wrinkles, the two nemesis's of the canoe crowd. I have put hours into prepping for this nite of wetting out the interior of my Freedom 17 to find 4 or 5 defined wrinkles and 12 or more bubbles underneath the cloth by the time i wa...

Paul, the rails are 1.800 to 1.300 wide, again varies because of the sanding operation I'd guess. So if you sawed your stock to 1 5/16 (1.312) you'd have the same dimensions after sanding. Ray, Can you clarify further, I am a little confused on the dimensions. In looking at pictures it looks fairly...

I have a full size cad drawing (in PDF) based on the above dimensions estimated by Pete if anyone is interested.

I am still in process of transferring to my chosen fibre for the seat and finishing but it looks like it will work.

Charles,

Pls keep us (me) informed of your progress.
I am also attempting the same type of seat.

I am in the process of asking a friend plot a full size drawing with CAD, so i will let you know how my progress goes.

Mold Repair

In an effort to get my molds as close as possible to the plans, i am looking for some ideas on repairing some of my molds. Much of the discrepancies are less than a 1/16". They are usually either along the sheer line or the center line (the opposite end from my baseline). I have considered scab...

Mold Accuracy

Well i have completed the task of tracing my molds via carbon paper directly to MDF and then cutting with a bandsaw and sanding to the line. I then took the plans and carefully went over each mold to check for discrepancies. I seem to notice about a 1/16" discrepancies on the sheer line of the ...

As usual everyone has something that works better for them based on unique circumstances. For me it was the method described in Canoecraft. I originally tired copying to poster paper and then tracing to MDF. Unfortunately there was slight deviation from free handing and more deviation from cutting w...

I have gone back and spent a fair bit of time going over the strongback looking for obvious errors. I am confident the canoe is level and without twist across the wide face of the plywood(the top). This was measured with a sprit level. I placed a string from end to end, to see the deviation along the...

Glen, I will try my best to get the strongback as staright as possible(in fact i think i may take it apart one more time). Do you forsee any problems if i end up having to leave a pie shaped gap in the top plates and ensuring one top edge is straight as i can get it? ps super duper quick response ti...

Strongback Alignment

I suspect this is a run of the mill question that every new builder faces. I am in the last stages of tying together my strongback.. The top edge is parallel to the ground. (I have checked via a string line before assembling legs, plus later with a spirit level). After attaching the legs i took the ...
