I attempted something similar on my Endeavour, but I placed the bungee holes too close together, so there isn't enough stretch in them.

I will fix it, but my concern is whether the hook will end up being a knuckle-smasher.

People with no previous (or very little) woodworking experience have built Bear Mountain canoes and kayaks without much difficulty so you should do just fine. I agree -- some kayak designs have difficult compound curves that can be problematic for first-time builders, but the Endeavour is not a dif...

Mountain Equipment Co-op has it ... if you're able to get into a store they have more variety than is shown on their website.

Hiker's Haven also has some ... again better if you're able to get into the store.

Nice ... it seems to have all the necessary attributes ... easy, compact, lightweight, and cheap. I often see old decrepit baby strollers tossed out to the curb during the town's annual "junk pickup". This'd be a good way to keep some of those wheels out of the landfill.

... binder clamps and large fat rubber bands. I did the same - "U"-clamps at the forms, and binder clamps between the forms, or wherever I needed a little bit of extra edge-to edge pressure, but instead of rubber bands I used pieces of an old bicycle inner tube that I cut up to varying le...

Glen, I was counting on you to post pictures of the Rendezvous weekend. Thanks. I almost made it ... I stayed overnight at Rice Lake, and was on my way into Peterborough Saturday morning … I was only about 15 minutes away from Del Crary Park … when my cellphone rang, and I had to turn back & hea...

Hi Ross, welcome aboard ... I'll be at the Rendezvous and hope to see you there. It'd be good to meet you in person. I haven't yet built a k-foundry kayak, but I've played around with the software quite a bit, and have several designs in "draft" form, for further tweeking. Mike - you sure ...

jsantell, I know what you mean about the stated capacity range of the Endeavour ... I'm well over the upper limit also, with just me & the boat, and yet I've never felt unsafe in it. The stated range seems weirdly low to me ... but I have no scientific basis for saying that ... its only my perso...

jsantell - I think the True North would be too big for you. Assuming you built it to around 50 lbs (my Endeavour is around 43 lbs), you'd still have to carry about 35 lbs of gear & cargo just to get to the bottom of the stated optimum capacity range (300 to 480 lbs). At the other end of the spec...

Without being allowed to use a flash, its tough to get good pics in there. I recently thought of something that might help, though. I have a new dog who is constantly moving around, so a lot of my pics were blurry. I started using the "action" setting on my camera - the digital equivalent,...

Danny - my time in the Yukon was unfortunately spent working - not paddling. The mosquitoes can be bad, depending on where you are. I saw very few, actually, at the spots I was working, but friends have told me of the fierce variety that rule some sections of the river. They are bigger, but probably...

Mark - Do you plan to attend the Small Craft Rendezvous in August? Its just a short drive from where you are. There were several Endeavours at last year's event, so you'd likely be able to test-drive one. Unless my plans get derailed, I expect I'll be there, and you're welcome to take mine out for a...

You're not mad. I've spent a few weeks in the Yukon over the past few years, and I've been bitten by the Yukon River Quest bug. Not sure when I'll get around to doing it, but its very high on my "to-do" list. No reason not to use a stripper, although the shipping logistics would be interes...

Ken, ...I would appreciate any info you could provide to help me understand your previous comments. Snowman - I weigh ~230 lbs, which may be a little on the heavy side for this boat, since Bear Mountain lists the design displacement at 280 lbs. But I like it. Yes, I generally find it tracks well, i...

Well done, Jeff ... a lot of fine detail ... is that a strip of walnut bisecting the birdseye deck?

My kayak took a couple years to complete as well ... feels good to finally get it wet, doesn't it.
