Well its now four months since I posted the original question and I am finally getting around to making my paddles. I wanted to finish the canoe first.

I am using the Gilpatrick design and will use Cypress on the outside, and Ash for the core. The blades are left over cypress strips.

This weekend I thought I would get three coats on but I only got one. last night I applied the second coat but I thinned it a little with minerial spiirts and the thinner coat seemed to dry much faster then ...

Since no one has commented I will. I think it's a waste of money or the guy just wants free advertsing. Why have you eliminated sanding as an option?

Some 150 grit and evening's worth of time would likely do it.

Edited to say:

That seems to be the boat builder's answer for most things
:laughing

Gosh we love to sand.

I glued on my walnut inwales and one outwale without incident. No screws. I will be glueing on the final outwale tonight or this week end. I did it without a helper and it came out fine. As far as long term strength, I don't know. I do know that I have 17' X 3/4" of continious adhesion to the h...

A while back some one posted a cane supplier. I searched and couldn't find it. Help!

Also is it generally agread that plastic cane is the way to go for canoe seats?
