Re: New Solo Canoe - Freedom 15'3" and 16'2"

The center of station 8 mold should be on the station line. other forms should have the face of the mold closest to the end of the canoe on the 12" line.

In other words, the surface that touches the strips should be on the station line.

Hope this helps.

Re: Track saw centerline

It might work if you can get everything lined up properly. I assume you need to make two cuts (unless you have a really long track saw. Also, part of "getting everything lined up" includes ensuring that your blade is aligned parallel to the centerline in both dimensions throughout the cut ...

I don't need a loan for a canoe I built yeas ago. Emily, your post is unrelated to building and soliciting business. Please refrain from any such posts in the future.

Thank you

Re: Painter rings

Also, you should endeavor to get your painter rings as low as possible (close to the waterline). It will make lining the canoe much more stable if they are lower. I do prefer to drill a hole through the side of the hull (perpendicular to the centerline of the canoe). I insert /epoxy a small brass pi...

Re: Painter rings

I have used this hardware to put painter rings on one canoe I built. It also has brass stem bands. I just let the small brass plate rest on the face of the stem band.

All the pictures are still there but something changed on facebooks side I'd guess. Here's a link to the album showing all the steps in building the 3rd composite F17. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10158200092762885&type=3 Hope this helps. I built a 4th version between 3/1 and 4/1 th...

About posting pictures... You need to have your picture stored somewhere (else) so that you can capture a url that points to the picture... Then simply insert that url into the text that is generated when you hit the 9th button above your text window (it looks like a mountain with a sun or moon abov...

I'd get the router set up going to see if you really have a problem there. I'd guess 5 thousandths of an inch won't be an issue (actually that's .224 +/- only 2 or 3 thousandths...

Re: Building with cove down

The only argument I can think of for cove down is that it's easier to put pressure on the strip to keep them tight to the prior strip as the glue dries. I use strapping tape over the strip to put pressure on the joint. With Cove up, you have to do something to keep the edge of the cove from getting ...

Yeah, I'm not sure what happened to all the pictures in that original thread.... so I moved them all into an album and posted that link. Hope that has some longevity...

Re: 17' 9" Freedom

The last boat I built (Freedom 17 - made with Kevlar, Carbon and Inegra), was made with carbon fiber over foam for gunwales, seats, yoke and thwarts. You can take a look at pictures of the process here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10158200092762885&type=3 It came in at 39 pounds. T...
