Thanks for the tip. It worked very well and saved a lot of time.

Re: 19' 9" Chaa Creek Expedition

I was thinking about possibly flaring the outer gunnels a bit in the bow and stern areas to deflect waves. We have had close encounters with some big waves from speed boats and big, fast moving container ships that can roll cold seawater into the lap of the person paddling in the front.

Re: 19' 9" Chaa Creek Expedition

I am thinking about laminating gunnels using 3/4 x 1/4 maple strips with walnut spacers for scuppers. I kind of like the look of scuppers and I have a bunch of small walnut pieces.

Re: 19' 9" Chaa Creek Expedition

I used two coats of epoxy on the inside. I am thinking about only a light hand sanding because I want to leave the inside slightly bumpy so it's not as slippery.

Re: 19' 9" Chaa Creek Expedition

Looks great... I think my resin primer coat was still a little tacky which caused it to stick a bit here and there instead of sliding over the surface. I will do better next time.

Re: 19' 9" Chaa Creek Expedition

When is the earliest stage I can remove the hull from the forms? I got the first fill coat on. I would like to get the strongback out of the shop since the hull will be lighter to move around and can be hoisted to the rafters when needed.

Re: 19' 9" Chaa Creek Expedition

The chaa creek has a lot of tumblehome... I think the hull shape made wrinkles more problematic because of how the cloth hangs. I was able to minimize them and sand them fairly smooth.
