Bummer....Did you get the milky streaks during the wetout, the second coating, or both? Be nice to figure out what happened and it sounds like it was overworked...also ...you indicated that you heated your epoxy...how cool was your work area?

I've only used the wooden clamp and wedges method as described in Canoecraft I found that method works well for me as you are in total control and can adjust and fiddle around to get the strips to fit tightly. It's not the fastest...but I never seen building to be a race anyway...Dave

I agree with Jeff, and if I could only buy 1, it would be a low angle plane. That said, a spokeshave is really nice for shaping a yoke or a nice paddle. I use a Stanley 60 1/2 low angle block plane and a Veritas low angle spokeshave. Dave

Can't tell you about the larger size, but I've been real pleased with the Freud 1/4 carbide with the 1/2 inch shank. So far I've cut strips for a Bob's, a Rice Lake and a trailer. They are still very sharp and ready for the next project!

I'm around and check messages every other day or so...I just don't post much seeings how I don't have a build going. I do need to figure what I'm going to fuss with over the winter. With the trailer done, I'm projectless (unless getting after neglected home repairs counts)!!!
