I really like plain old Elmer's carpenter glue on light colored strips, and sometiimes switch to Titebond III on the darker colored strips. On something as light as Alaska Yelow Cedar (I haven't worked with Eastern White Cedar), it seems to be important that you keep your wipe down rags clean and ri...

You know...I think a nice way to go is to lay the strips out on the floor and see what pattern you like. It's a matter of personal choice...and after looking at it awhile...I'm sure you will find just the right combination!!!

Dan...one of the best "easy" tips I ever got was to simply snitch your wife's spray bottle of water and spray the floor before varnishing. I can't tell whether it simply keeps dust from raising up, reduces the electrostatic whachamacallit, or raises the humidity. Anyway, it sure seems like...

I have to work out of my garage and have been using a Shopsmith for many years. I've build both a Bob's Special and a Rice Lake. It worked great for that! Just take your time on setup...make sure you set up good infeed and outfeed tables...and you will get the accuracy you need...Juneaudave http://m...

Dan...any chance you can sharpen that bit by spinning it against a mill file in a drill press or hand drill?. or maybe just working it by hand on a stone? I have the Veritas tapered cutters that work good.... but sometimes a little sharpening on a less expensive bit will do the trick...Juneaudave......

Hi...I don't think there would be a compatibility problem...If you can figure a way, try to see how long the varnish has been stting on the shelf. I recently ran across a fella on another board that used some old varnish and it wouldn't cure...problem solved with a new can.

Cheers Ron!!! There are lots of things you can do before you free up the space!!!! Build the seats, a paddle or two to hone your woodworking skills....build the stations, a web site, feature strips...etc. I would surely use this season to play around a bit set myself up for the "big" build...

I'm planning on hauling the trailer and the Bob's Sp down from Alaska to his campout next summer in the Redwoods. A PM from you would do wonders :c...
