Nice canoe, well done. I good choice for the area I think. I'm not sure exactly where you're located, but the rockies and semi-arid grassland are pretty distinctive. I"m hoping to have a paddle just north of you this summer, with a bit of luck and good timing.
cheers

I have the outside pretty much sanded now. One quadrant of the boat had decent epoxy runs. Getting rid of the runs wasn't a big deal, but there wasn't much epoxy coverage as a result. That's ok, prior to varnishing I will be putting on one or two very thin coats of epoxy and sanding with 180grit. I ...

I'm building a Freedom 16. I spoke to Steve Killing over the phone prior to starting, it was actually his suggestion. I used forms 1 and 15. I added just over 2cm between each form. I did not reshape forms 1 and 15, although Steve said on the phone that I might have to. I didn't have any problems wi...

Help with bending canoe paddle
Hi, I've now had a chance to return to some boat building stuff after a long absense and decided to work on my bent shaft canoe paddles. Yesterday I set up my bending form, steamed my strips, and clamped them in the bent position. I anticipated a bit of rebound after clamping, but the strips actuall...

glass/epoxy float: my arch nemesis!
when I glassed the hull a few weeks ago I had a bit of float in a couple of places. It surprised me as everything looked good after the squeegee. I didn't have the glass completely flat prior to wetting out with epoxy, as I thought the epoxy would help the glass hold to the hull. I'm using 2 layers ...

Here's my latest update. I haven't worked on the canoe for a while, and won't be working on it for maybe a couple of months. Two weeks I ago participated in The Battle of Sluggo And The Scooter vs. The Van. The Van won, so I'm licking my wounds (ie recovering). I managed to glass the outside with 2 ...
