for what it's worth, I used a 10" sanding disc to "cut" my scarf joints. Worked like a charm. The two surfaces to be joined come away from the disc ready for glueing. Lots of control and much safer... I did the same thing, and was very happy with the result ... each pair of scarf &qu...

Cool ... can you post a pic of the underside of that seat? ... I've tried to puzzle out the weaving pattern, but it has me stumped.

Mine hangs in the rafters of an unheated garage. I don't think climate control is necessary, but shelter from the elements (rain, snow, ice, sunlight) is good.

I have a nice big garage at home, but always thought if I was to start a project at the cottage, I'd build me a small version of one of these .... http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k401/Amos97801/bowshed1.jpg http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k401/Amos97801/Shedinwinter.jpg I think I've read where...

I've done the Bowron circuit, but not in a stripper. Still, I can't imagine that you'd do any damage. I wouldn't hesitate to bring a stripper in there. We went in early June, about a decade ago. I understand it can get quite crowded in July and August, with the camping restricted to designated sites...

I found both A&M and Exotic Woods very expensive, though I have to agree they both have some wonderful stock, and I have purchased hardwoods from EW. I got clear cedar deck boards (5/4 x 6 - actual thickness 1") from Aitchison's in Hamilton ... near McMaster ... that was a few years ago, I ...

Seems like I remember this being in New England area??
Even further ... it (Rendezvous) is in the Peterborough, Ontario area, as is Bear Mountain.
Oh well, we'll have to be satisfied with pictures ... your design looks good ... what software (if any) did you use to design it?

I paddle an Endeavour without stem bands, and have not had any damage to the stems in 5 seasons of paddling. I do have 3 layers of 6 oz fg over the stems but there's barely a scratch on them. I generally carry the kayak into the water, and enter/exit in a few inches of water, so the boat is floating...

To ensure that you don't lose the cover should it blow off, it's a good idea to pass the front loop under your deck bungees and pull the cover back through the loop Been there ... done that ... these days my cover is secured even for short local trips. Lisa, my Endeavour cockpit is not the standard...

I drilled out a piece of 3/4" walnut dowel. to make a wooden "pipe", for my toggle loops. I think copper would look nice too. I don't have a rudder on my Endeavour, so my toggles are right at the ends. Some commercial boats I've seen have the stern carrying handle just forward of the ...

I also used the Vaclav-style flush hatch, with recessed channel for the gasket, and magnetic closure ... I like the system ... clean & simple in use, but a little more effort to make, than some other methods, I imagine ... mine are not 100% leakproof ... the gaskets are 4 years old, so probably ...
