relief in seat affect caning?
I want to add a little relief and contour in the thigh area of the seat (similar to tractor style seat) and was wondering if this will cause problems during caning?

seat angle?
In keeping with the current trend, I have a seat question. I made a seat jig and set it up but noticed that the seat is tipped, since the jig is sitting on the bottom of the canoe which has rocker. Is this going to cause any problems? Or should I set the jig closer to level? I did search the forum b...

Good idea
I think I'll do that, just to make sure I have it set right. Good luck on your mold/fungus repair. Thanks again.

rocker question
A sort of quick question on the changing rocker when inserting spreader bar. After installing my inwales, I inserted a scrap piece to keep the hull at 0 station width plus 1/2 inch, while installing my decks (after inwales had dried) I removed the spreader to help hold the decks in place. After deck...

Hull protection idea
Glen, when working on a tight area on a guitar, I use very thin stainless sheets to protect the areas I'm not working on. If you don't have any thin stainless, I've also used the really inexpensive rolls of aluminum used for flashing on roofs to the same effect. The aluminum might work nice since it...

15' Ranger
I'm also at the inwale stage, scuppers are layed out and ready to cut. I'm having a blast on this woodwork. Tailoring each piece to fit all the angles (stem, tumblehome, sheer, etc.) is proving a fun challenge. Outwales are cut, yoke is carved, decks are glued and seats are ready to be covered (stil...

okay
Thanks guys, I guess I scrap the bow slider plan. It was worth a thought anyway. On the plus side, I can shoot for a June launch date now.

Sliding bow seat for a Prospecter Ranger?
I was thinking of installing a sliding bow seat on my canoe since my wife is about 70 pounds less in weight than me. Upon further research I discovered that some people don't recommend a slider for the Prospecter. Anyone have any info on this subject for me? The glassing is all done (finally) and I'...

I'm here..
I don't know if I can help but I'm checking the site today, and will answer any questions I can. Patience is a virtue when setting up your stations, I kept picturing a canoe (upside down) in my mind while I was setting it up. It seemed to help and prevented me from setting my stems wrong. All lines ...

Name
Your Hawaiian (sp?) name list gave me an idea. Sior-Realta with a tilde over the i and e, it means Eternal Star in Gaelic (I'm Irish) and gives a little honor to the dog laying in the guitar picture, she's getting on in years now and the having the canoe named after her will bring on good memories. ...
