Randy: At what point would you apply the extra strip of bias cut cloth over the end of the stem and first layer of fiberglass cloth and resin? When the first layer is still wet, or after it is ready for the second coat or resin, or after it has cured?
Thanks.

fairing the hull
I have completed the faring of the hull by filling in defects with the resin, fairing compound, and sawdust mixture, and, final sanding. Upon closer inspection of the hull, I now am thinking that the small defects I previously deemed unnecessary to repair may in fact need to be fixed. Attached are s...

Re: Hey Now
Can you explain to me how you attach pictures to your posts? I have tried the link below the text box and it doesn't work. I have followed Glen's directions by uploading to photobucket but have not been successful.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Glen: I am not successful in following your directions. I have uploaded my files to photobucket. When I right click on the photo, I do not get a "properties" option. I am able to copy the URL of the photo. I cannot find a "Close Tags" option that you say is "above". Whe...

Re: Rendezvous Photos & others
Glen: How do I post pictures with my questions on the builders forum? In the past when I have attempted to do so, I get an error message that states the files are too large and only 256 K are allowed. I am not aware of picture files that are 256 K. Mine are in the 2.4 meg range. Thanks for your help...

How do I attach pictures to a post? My picture files are about 2.4 meg. I get an error message after trying to attach them that the maximum file size is 256 K.
Thanks.

Re: Filling The Voids
Thanks for the information. You have answered my question (fear). I didn't want the repaired areas to affect the look of the finish layer of epoxy. So far, sanding the repaired areas appears to be removing the epoxy around the repair. I will make sure my sanding continues to do so.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Filling The Voids
Will do. I need to figure out how to reduce the size of my picture files. In the past, they have been rejected for being too large.
The flat. low areas are about the size of a quarter.
Thanks.

Filling The Voids
I am at the point on my Redbird of preparing the hull for fiberglassing. I am on step 2 of 4, Filling The Voids, with an epoxy, Microlite, sanding dust mixture. I have both long, narrow slits and flat, low areas where the direction of the grain caused the wood to tear away. Can these "holes&quo...

Re: fiberglassing the stems
Very good idea. I will probably add the layer for extra protection because I do a lot of canoeing and add the stem band as extra protection and I like the look. Thanks.

fiberglassing the stems
I have a question regarding how the fiberglass cloth is cut at the outer stems. Ted calls for cutting the cloth after saturation with resin within 1 in. (beyond) the outer stem. Then, 3 hours later after the epoxy has firmed up, the cloth is to be cut cleanly at the stem. Is this at the outer edge o...

Re: Redbird questions
Randy: Thanks for your quick reply. My stems have been sanded to a fair curve and all the gaps are gone. I assume by your answer I don't need to sand the hull any further to get rid of the blotchiness as this will be negligible when the saturated later during the glassing process.
