:( Problem sanding an inconsistant complex concave section! Tried coke bottles, with sand paper too ridged. Tried 2" PVC pipe with sand paper wrapped around it, still too ridged. Here it is! The nasty junk-mail magazines we get in the mail are now a very usefull tool! how I hear you ask. From t...

A question of sanity, just a bit of fun!

 Questions to ask when thinking about building a canoe! 1. How stable is your marriage? 2. Do you intend to park your car in the workshop/garage for the next year/or two? 3. Is your workshop attached to the house? 4. Will your spouse accept the idea that dust all over the house is a natural phe...

Thanks Glen I will take a look at the web site. My main issue is not wanting to remove too much resin but leaving enough to do the job my confidence in my ability with the squeege is fairly low. I think I am going to lay some cloth on a couple of pieces of ply wood and practice the pressure etc befo...

Glassing inside?

I am currently sanding the inside of my Prospector Ranger and thinking ahead to the glassing stage. I had a couple of problems with the glass floating when I did the outside and am a little apprehensive about the inside. Looking at the tools used for fiberglass work at the boat store they have a sma...

:D Thanks Doug

I had thought about putting more epoxy over the areas but needed some support, thanks again.

I had also thought that 220 grit would be better for the final sanding prior to varnish! what are your thoughts on that?

Ted recomends 180 I think in Canoe Craft!

How much sanding is too much sanding

:?: Hi all I have another dumb question. I have glassed the outside of the boat and yesterday sanded with the 80 grit (1st stage) there are a few spots where I can see the cloth as a slight white hatch mark, have I gone too deep? This is mainly at the shear line where the cloth did not want to lay f...

I also made the asame mistake cutting the forms to the shear line. I fixed the shear plank to the frame with about a 1/4" below the shear line I will when at that point comes fare the edge after the inside and outside whales are fitted.
