Dave, I have a question for you, are you sure it is not staturated or do you have to look at it in the right light to see it. I know I have seen the weave of the cloth on dark wood but it is more because of the light reflecting just right. Can you post a picture?

Thanks Glen! Some one gave me a strip canoe that is stripped and some sanding done. I would have to dig out the papers to find out what kind it is. But I am going to spend alot of time in the water with the wife though out the summer.

I think it ride a little high in the water, but that just means she has to haul all the gear. :laughing Here is one pic with a link to the rest. http://groups.msn.com/Buildingst...

Sounds likeyour making good progress. I just want to add, varnish will magnify any imperfections you have in your epoxy. A good sanding on your epoxy will mean a better finish with varnish.
Good Luck

That's great, you sure did better than me. I think I bought David Hazen's book in 1975 and did not build my first boat until 2003. I read it alot :laughing

Hi Viking, those small pinholes you desribe can happen especially in the bilge area. But I bet you will be the only one who will see them. Unless your like me and have to point out all the mistakes to everybody, I can't believe I do that! I would suggest a sealer coat of epoxy before fiberglassing, ...
