Thanks to all for the helpful comments. After reading your posts, I think I'm going to try to avoid installing a keel. I'm glad I asked about this now, so that (as per Glen's suggesting), I can try to keep the keel line crisp as I'm fairing the hull. I'm not a bad paddler, so I should be able to kee...

I'm a first (but not last) time builder, and love every painstaking minute of the process (even when I don't have a clue what I'm doing).
