Noticing and Recognizing Two Different Things...

:thinking So when I started my stripping this summer, I NOTICED that my inner stem was slightly elevated from the adjacent form mold. Unfortunately, after stripping right up to the bilge, I have just RECOGNIZED that this is a much more serious issue that I thought initially. https://lh5.googleuserco...

Re: Minor Freedom 17'9" update

Cruise,

I also am using my strongback, but for one of my scarfing tables.

Looks like I might be able to run the router on Sunday.... only 30% chance of rain this time. :crying

Cheers,

Scarfed 18 20' bass wood strips for the sheer line accent and alternating football. Will probable to another 6-8 for safety s...

Have I pooched myself already?

I have read Canoecraft over and over again and swore that the inner stems were to be 3/4" and the outer stems are 7/8"... I'm looking at my lovely glued stern stems, wondering, how in the world am I going to cut a 7/8" mortice over a 3/4" inner stem through the planking? :crying ...

Re: Minor Freedom 17'9" update

Was able to rip outer stems, and basswood last week. This week, am either going to plane the basswood, or rip the 20ft cedar. Temperature-wise I have no concern. Its the scattered snow flurries that dampen my enthusiasm. Will try to take some picks of my progress, but we have all seen bundles of str...

Minor Freedom 17'9" update

Finally got my station molds traced. A lot harder than I thought with two little munchkins swarming around my ankles. Inner stems have been cut, just waiting for a little stretch of warm weather (-10 to 0) to attack the outer stems and start ripping strips from my basswood and cedar. The next batch ...

Re: 18 inch Baseline

I have been tracing as per the book. I was just surprised that the baselines were off. Not enough to worry about though. So back to tracing I go.

Thanks for all the help.

Re: 18 inch Baseline

Thank you very much for the quick reply, I think I will hold off from continuing my tracings until then. Only got three done so far anyway.
