Re: 18 inch Baseline
You will find that the paper will resize itself depending on humidity that day. The suggested method of tracing the forms is to use 2 sheets of carbon paper, face up and face down, trace one side, flip over and use the carbon line traced on the back to trace the second half of the shape on the mold ...

Re: Finally filpped the Prospector
Did you not glass the hull while it was on the forms?
If not I would be considering putting it back on the forms to finish sanding and glassing before doing the inside.

Re: pics of my canoe in progress 'freedom 15'
Just wondering? did you bend the inside and outside stems together or are you doing them separate? It would have been easier to do them all in one step and then you are more assured that they will match up when you go to attach the outside stems. I am attaching a pic of my first attempt at this way ...

Re: Keeping weight down
If you want light why not consider cedar for inwales outwales and decks. Perhaps spruce which would be tougher would also make a good choice. I have never weighed things but the shell totally glassed doesn't really weight that much and the weight seems to add up with the hardwood trim.

Re: Which kayak
simply put the resolute is for larger paddlers ie I'm 260 plus lol and it suits me fine. The endeavor would be my choice for you. I have paddled both and like them equally. My wife has the venture and it is fine for her as she is under the weight suggestion and it would be a great kids boat. Ask aro...

Re: Weird Bilge Stripping Solution
You could also use a small finishing nail countersink it a bit and leave nail in place when fairing sanding and glassing the hull. When you remove the boat off the forms the nail will pull thro leaving just a small hole to fill.
I'd say you are doing ok and good luck with it

Re: Is the Freedom 15 solo suitable for class 2-3 white wate
I have helped build several freedom 17's and they don't have a whole lot of rocker. I would assume the 15 is similar. Perhaps you might consider the 15 foot ranger which sounds like the boat that would be more suitable for what you would like to do. I have build several of them and they are a nice p...
