Glassing interior

Hello,
Read somewhere about a builder who glasses the interior with fabric at 90 degrees or crossways to the hull. Any thoughts on this? Easier? As strong as lineal layup?
Thanks

I like the old oil, varnish, thinner combined in thirds. Wipe on let sit till just tacking up and wipe off. Wet sand between coats with 400 grit. Spar varnish, watco style oil or linseed and turps or mineral spirit. Hand rubbing with a cotton rag brings up the luster. As many coats as you like. This...

Yeah the open time with the Silvertip is much longer than the West. Sluggo, I am building the same boat as you did how much epoxy resin/hardener did you need?

Thanks for the info. As a matter of fact I have bought the epoxy but I could return it and the supplier sent a bunch of info regarding Silvertip and seemed to be pushing it over West. My big concern is the wet edge. As I jump back and forth between wet out and squeegeeing do I need to be greatly con...

Solo fiberglassing

Hello All,
I am at the fiberglassing stage and have been delaying the inevitable. It looks like I will have to do this on my own and would appreciate any tips you might have to facilitate the process. I can regulate the heat in my shop and am using West Systems 105/207.
Thanks

Always wanted to build a boat and one day surfing the net ---- on thing led to another and I bought Canoecraft and the obsession began. Am just fairing the hull as of now and enjoying it ---- glueing strips --- not so much. I am quite apprehensive, as are most, about epoxying the hull. The antithese...

Best thing I have found is a little flat bar wiht a scraper on one end used by drywallers. I quit using the block plane for fairing because of tear out. This thing works like a dream, no tear out and you can sharpen it in 20 seconds. Costs about 3 bucks.

Congratulations on this forum

Hello, I am new here. I would like to congratulate you on a most civil and usefull forum. I have visited other forums on other subjects and the degree of animosity and belligerence is terrible. Perhaps boat builders are cut from a finer cloth. All the best and keep up the good work.
