Flat grain CAN be more difficult to keep level, mostly if you are hand sanding, block sanding and/or Power sanding. The softer w...

Thanks for the offer David. I've got a 3 gallon kit of Raka epoxy and approx. 14 yds of 3.25oz satin weave glass cloth from Raka as well.. That will get me through a couple of these boats. This stuff has all been sitting around for approx. 3 yrs and appears to be yellowing just a tad( the hardener ...

On mine, the adjustment knob faces up and when tightened will pull up on that top wheel. Probably has a locking...

Thanks Glen.. Yep... we already figured in that change... of 5/32". I figured I'd have to pick up a heat gun once I saw Bryan's pics. on his sight. I hope Poplar doesn't burn too readily. I have a steamer as well, so I'm hoping to be able to knock them out without too much difficulty. Was goin...

Hi Bryan You're Spot-On Dude..! As I type, or before and after, I am going over the numbers for the Sairy Gamp. I'm putting them on paper this week, with the idea of making one in the original size, and one at 9 1/2' to 10' long and possibly 30" beam, while raising the gunnals approx. 1 to 1 1...

Mark When you mention tuning your band-saw, are you checking your blade guides both top and bottom of the table..? Those are where you will get wobble in your saw-blade. They are either square or round and are usualy tightened in by a set screw. They wear VERY quickly and have to be ground flat, or...

Ha.. That WOULD be the trick, wouldn't it..! I've used RAKA for 3 boats and a friend has used US Composites in the past. Still, it adds up. :eyebrows

O.K. then... Here's the pic., I've attempted to post, of my new pile of poplar strips. I read the instructions after attempting to figure it out on my own for a while. :rolling eyes There are 540 ( approx. ) strips of poplar and some redwood, mahogany and a couple of teak. Hi Bryan.. Thanks.. good to be here. Always wanted to play with a canoe or two, so it's about time. About your question... I really don't have an exact purpose in mind. I understand about building to suit the purpose.. I probably couldn't use these boats anyway ( @ 6'3" & 260 lbs. ). The gr...
