mt,
I use Pledge Furniture Polish. Rather than spray it on the boat I dampen a rag with a small amount and wipe it over the hull and then buff out with a soft cotton towel.

Larry,
I just ordered and received two flotation end bags from Mohawk Canoes. Check their web site. They also sell larger bags that install in the middle area of the canoe. I chose the end bags because they occupied less space.

paddle source

I need a couple of paddles quick and won't have time to make my own until next winter. Really don't want to spend $70 for a quality Shaw and Tenney so what else might be available? Thanks for any help.

Pat yourself on the back for that creation. One of the finest looking canoes I've seen.

North Wind, I obtained the WRC for my first boat at 5th. Ave Lumber in Columbus, however I think it was a fluke that they had it available. I've moved from that area and now buy it from Fingerlee Lumber in Ann Arbor. McNally Lumber in Columbus might be worth a try also. They had long lenghts of spru...

Just applied the final coat of varnish to the outside of a Rob Roy and Bob's Special . I started building these last October and really hate to see it come to an end. Had a really great experience building them both.

Dave,
Your Rice Lake looks great. Like the deck design and really like the red bottom paint. Looks like you installed slats in the bottom, if so how much additional weight are they adding? Thought about that for my wherry but was afraid it would be too heavy.

Pete, I just finished hanging seats in my Bob. I used one inch wide dowels with 4 inch carriage bolts and cut the tops of the dowels at an angle. The angle for the forward seat was about 5 degrees different than the rear. I used a fairly large counter sink bit to widen the inwall hole enough so the ...

Phil, No Prospector experience but have built others and I like the straight look. Following the sheer line with your first strip could make your canoe look like a banana in the water if the sheer curve is very dramatic. I also think the canoe will plankout easier with your starter strip level. Good...

Thanks for all the response. That Guillemot seat is exactly what I'm looking for. Ploting a "rear end" profile might be difficult but the assembly looks fairly simple.

Love the herrinbone pattern! What was your source for learning that technique? Seems like a better way to end the strips rather than all those long taper cuts.

Not really. The seat I'm looking for is solid wood, no weaving of any nature. There is some carving on the surface of the seat to contour to your rear end. Thanks for the reply though.

tractor style seat

Does anyone have a source for wooden tractor style canoe seats? My Google search is only finding plastic units.
