Hold the boat here

This is a very fun thread!

However for my two pennies I would say table saw, route your B&C and get after it!

Your going to do so much fairing & sanding after the fact to get a fair line, planeing is not needed.

Ed Houston only an opinion!

Jim I used the wet sanding method by hand on my boat with 120 grit just knocking off the gloss after five coats of varnish she looks great I would not use dry sanding and would not use a power sander after the gross sanding on the bare wood. Between varnish coats I used 220 wet sanding again by hand...

Varnish application Roll on tip off

Hi All Some time ago I re-painted my 26' sail boat and used a technique called roll on tip off, I wanted to try this technique on my Propsector Ranger for the varnish, well I am happy to report the results are as outstanding as they were on my Pearson sail boat. I read about this technique in a book...

Hi Guys Thanks for the replies, I do not think its a question of not being dry I have waited at least the 24hrs. However I do like the wet sanding better if not only for the dust mitigation. I am lucky enough that I can move the boat outside to do the sanding so I am using a garden hose to drizzle w...

Final Sanding of Varnish coats

It seems like a long time ago when I started my boat and at times thought I would never get to this stage. However here I find myself first coat of varnish is on and now I have another problem. My sand paper is clogging knocking the gloss off the varnish. I have resorted to wet sanding with 320 wet ...

:eyebrows Hi all I got the scuppers on one site rounded using strips of 80 grit 120 grit and 150 grit I cut the strips about 1/2" wide and folded them in half length ways giving grit on both sides. By using it like dental floss I was able to get a nice round edge. Router bit would heve been muc...
