John,

What you described was exactly what I did with my sheer clamp, except I used my hand plane... :wink

Greg, You noted that you might modify your molds to accept a triangular sheer clamp. I did not no that, as it was essentially an "afterthought." I assembled it exactly as per Kayakcraft (using the rectangular cross section), up until it was time to prepare the underside of the deck. It was...

Paddling Impressions & Construction Comments Well, I have had some time to wet the hull (and deck…) and I can offer a few comments. For paddling impressions, keep in mind that I am 6’ 0” and 179 lbs (183 cm, 81 kg). Stability Initial stability - I found that the initial stability feels a bit un...

Arno photo, Looks like it will do the trick. I have not (yet) had to address this problem. If I did I might do a work around similar to you, but possibly glue the filler on to the form, especially if I was using a stapled construction - with my luck, I would end up with my strip staple trying to occ...

Roscoe, I can't answer your original question, but thought you might be interested in replacing you Path of the Paddle? You can order the entire Bill Mason series on DVD for a very reasonable price at: http://cmm.nfb.ca/E/titleinfo/index.epl?id=51730&expr=%7BBill%20Mason%7D&sid=6997ceaa2a5fb...

Glen/Jim, You likely recall that Erik (in Belguim) did a "cleat" installation on his Winisk. Is this what you were referring to? http://s14.photobucket.com/albums/a317/ErikvanWoerkens/Winisk%20Cedarstrip%20Canoe/?action=view&current=seat5-lg.jpg http://s14.photobucket.com/albums/a317/E...

Launch Day!!!

It was hard to sit and wait while the varnish cured... The first launch of my Endeavour was on 29 Apr 06. I have shared the launch day pictures at the following address: Snowman's Launch Pics I still have yet to do the final seat placement, as I wanted to paddle it first to verify the bouancy/balanc...

This is probably is even less "local" for you but I used US Composites (5101 Georgia Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33405 - http://www.shopmaninc.com/cinfo.htm). the price was right and the product was quite good (I am a rookie, so I don't have much glassing experience to qualify my rating of...

I have tried climb cutting and got good results. I did not use feather boards, but rather built myself a guide/control jig which I could adjust the "fit" of the strips to give a sufficient amount of friction. It worked quite well, but it was a lot of fiddling around to get the right set up...

Glen, Your snowballs are well taken. WRT the photos - yes, there is lots of repetition. This occurs since I have not taken the time to cull them to form a "story-book" look. There are repeats in all my kayak photos as I took several angles with and without flash, etc. I also have not put t...
